Long Travel Motorized Linear Stage, 815mm Travel Range, 50mm/s

Long travel motorized linear translation stage is offered by PI and supports up to 815mm of linear motion. The LS-270 series of Linear Stages offers high accuracy and impressive incremental motion with loads up to 1500 N. The maximum velocity of the motorize translation stage is 150 mm/second. This PI stage has been designed for demanding applications and has a robust feature set due to careful attention to the design and manufacturing.

Reference-class linear stage
Crossed roller guide design with precision ball screw provides high travel bidirectional repeatability of ±2.5 µm. In addition this design provides long lifetime operation. For the highest stability the LS-270 series uses stress-relieved aluminum in the base and non-contact inductive limit switches.

Drive types
The motorized stage can either be configured with a closed-loop DC servo motor with rotary encoder on the shaft or a 2-phase stepper motor for high torque applications that also require high resolution even at low velocities.

Versions with direct position measurement
Integrated linear encoder, mounted between the guides. Direct position measurement of the moving platform eliminates the influence of mechanical play and hysteresis in the drivetrain on the positioning accuracy.

Minimum incremental motion
When used with the PI SMC Hydra Controller minimum incremental motion of 0.4 µm can be achieved because of the intgrated sensors or encoders. Furthermore the backlash of the LS-270 series is typically 5 µm.
