Product Overview:

These high optical gain 1550nm range (C-Band) pre-amplifier EDFA's are designed to produce maximum signal gain and the highest level of saturated output power while maintaining a low noise figure. These high performance pre-amplifiers are used for demanding R&D applications as well as in component testing and manufacturing processes. These units provide full control over the power and gain through user control of the pump(s) laser diode current levels, or by setting the instrument into a gain feedback or power feedback mode. Settings can be made via an easy to use front panel with an intuitive menu and control knob or by remote interface. LabVIEW based control software is available and ships free of charge. These pre-amplier EDFA instruments have Telcordia GR/488 qualified 980nm laser diode pump source lasers. They also utilize the highest reliability grade Telcorida qualified combiners. The principal theory of design is the laser light from these pump wavelengths excites the erbium ions embedded in the doped fiber. This excitation from their ground state provides the high excitation levels at the desired wavelengths and produces high gain levels of up to 35 dB.
